Holiday Volunteering

300 to 400 volunteers are needed each Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter to serve over 1,000 meals to lonely older adults at ten meal sites across five counties. Job times depend on the site.
Specific sites and times are on the volunteer registration page.

KITCHEN

Follow all food safety requirements.

Follow directions from lead cook.

Follow the menu and recipes.

Plate and/or package meals.

Sit, eat, and visit with the guests.

Wash and sanitize dishes.

Sweep and mop floors.

Volunteers must be at least 13 years of age to help in the kitchen.

PACKAGE HOME MEALS 

Package meals for home delivery.

Assign meal recipients to delivery volunteers.

Provide maps.

Encourage volunteers to visit the meal recipient with delivery.

Sweep and mop the floors.

DINING ROOM

Setup the dining room festively.

Use real dinnerware and flatware as available.

Package meals for home delivery.

Greet and check in volunteers and guests.

Serve the meal.​

Sit, eat, and visit with the guests.

Clear the tables.

Sweep and mop the floors.

HOME MEAL DELIVERY

Pick up meals at designated sites.

Start by delivering to just a few households.

Go back for more if you still have time.

Offer to stay for a short visit when you deliver the meal.

If no one is home, do not leave the meal. Call for assistance.
